Ham and Cheese Stuffed Chicken
Ham and Cheese Stuffed Chicken:
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup diced ham
- 1 cup shredded cheese (such as Swiss, cheddar, or mozzarella)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried herbs (such as thyme, rosemary, or parsley), optional
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the Chicken Breasts:
- Use a sharp knife to create a pocket in each chicken breast. Be careful not to cut all the way through.
- Season the inside and outside of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- Stuff the Chicken:
- Divide the diced ham and shredded cheese evenly among the chicken breasts, stuffing them into the pockets you created.
- Secure the Chicken:
- Use toothpicks to secure the openings of the chicken breasts, keeping the ham and cheese filling inside.
- Season and Sear:
- Heat the olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
- Optional: Sprinkle dried herbs over the chicken breasts for extra flavor.
- Place the stuffed chicken breasts in the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are lightly browned.
- Bake:
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Serve:
- Carefully remove the toothpicks from the chicken breasts before serving.
- Serve the ham and cheese stuffed chicken with your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a side salad.
